My passion in cars is for driving machines, not appliances.

GM pays cynical lip service to this except for the Corvette, which is a bit too impractical for me at the price. But it's a beautiful machine now that they've finally got a nice interior in it, too!

I will check out the PBC stuff.

Bob: you were neither the first or the last. Pot metal is a often-misused generic term for a zinc-based alloy used in die-casting. There's lots of these ranging from low-strength (used in decorative items and formerly used to make complex die-cast car trim pieces) to high (Rick "R" Tailpieces and even some aerospace parts!). The term has taken on a negative cast (pun intended) thanks to the low-strength stuff's poor aging characteristics,
