430 pup covers

Post by bmi_guy »

I saw two 430's on Björn's page. One had chrome pup covers while the other had the "standard" black - does anyone know where a good look'n guy could get some chrome ones - or are these diff pups that have been installed on a "stock" 430?
I want to keep mine factory original.

Thanks in advance...

Only ugly guys can get chrome pickups.

I've got a lot of them, BTW. But they all say "PAF" on 'em.

That really hurt man... But - if I have to take an ugly pill to get some chrome pup covers, then I'll do it!! (Do you have a good supply? Image
Ok - I give up - what is "PAF"? (I know what PRS means - ouch!!)
Really this is the first and only RIC I've ever owned - I never saw any reason to get enything else - except the new ones
are beeee-uuuu-teee-ful. I just wanted to flash it up a bit - but want to remain "ALL RIC"
(BTW I do have the bridge cover at the house - somewhere!!)

Read the post again, slowly. I was not calling YOU ugly, but MYSELF.

"PAF" refers to Gibson pups which were "Patent Applied For", first seen in 1956 and phased out (pun intended) by the mid-1960s. PAFS are getting to be worth some serious bucks these days, to the extent that in China and Japan, they are being counterfeited by the bushelful, right down to dirty screws, stained labels and dust bunnies inside. So anybody with a lot of them is either rich or in the counterfeiting chain somewhere. I plead ignorance to both accusations!

The whole post, therefore, was Jabberwocky.

I know you were calling yourself ugly... But I'll bet you a set of chrome covers I'm uglier that you are!!
I'm just trying to help you feel better about it.
(If you're good - I'll send you some pix of all the girls who hang around just because they anticipate chrome covers on my 430!) Unfortunately they are all uglier than both of us put together!! OK - I'm losing it here...
I know what you mean now - about the Gibson pups.
I know a guy (older than me) who has a 335 with those things on it.
Thanks for the black market tip... By the way, weren't you on the cover of Rolling Stone?

What about my chrome covers... ?

Sorry, Mike, can't help you there.

Besides, you have too many women hanging around.

The wealth must be spread, you know...

Thanks J-J,
You'd think the guys at RIC would take pity on an ugly guy and just make some for me.
I've got Mike Parks look'n but doesn't seem promising.
Oh well - I guess I'll just have to buy a new guitar... By the way, the 430's on Björn's - neither one has chrome covers. My mistake.
The one that did is on some other page I can't find anymore. Must have been a modification to the original pups.

Have a good day...
