4001C64 pick up cover removal

Post by rich »

Has anyone removed the pick up cover from a 4001 C64? It's right where I play and want it off. How do you do it?

Thanks, Rich

I have. Those things are cool looking, but annoy the heck out of me while playing. You just have to find a spacer that is a similar thickness to the horseshoe. The pickup is fastened to the horseshoe which is fastened to the backing plate. Your bass will now be about a pound lighter!(maybe notImage)

Oh...and welcome to the forum, Richard

I wasn't planning on selling the covers or anything but I suppose money talks! Here is a brief (sad) history of the bass. It arrive two days ago after waiting 11 months for it. Something had fallen on it during shipping and cracked the case, smashed and broke the pick guard and broke the pick up selector switch off. What a disappointment! I was so excited to open the case and then I saw her and was so let down. I'm in the process of dealing with UPS and Ed Roman Guitars to get her repaired or replaced. I'm a lefty so replacement is probably not an option. I could fix it myself if they would just ship a new loaded pick guard and case to me. Probably won't happen that way but I can hope. Thanks everybody, Rich

Ouch, that's real sad .... I hope you get it all sorted out to your satisfaction. I know I'd have been devastated.

Mr Roman can hopefully locate you another spanking new replacement ... Good luck with this, we all feel for your loss. Image

I really don't want a 4003 as this is the macca spec Fireglo reissue. I just want the cover off because it's just in the way and uncomforatble. Thanks for your sympathy, I was pretty bummed about it but it can and will be repaired so it will be ok. Glad to be a part of this great forum and look forward to learning from everybody. Rich

I know North Coast Music switch to DHL for this same reason. UPS is pretty tough on guitars and amps. Sorry to hear of your mishap Richard. I would have been ****** if that happen to my c64.
I hope Ed Roman had it insured.

Sorry about that Richard. I certainly know the feeling of waiting for something special you paid good money for, only to find that UPS has had their "fun" with it.

UPS is pronounced "oops". I'll never again use them for anything of value. I was pleased that Music123 used FedEx for the last guitar I bought (an Ibanez AW200VV acoustic).
