100th post !!!

Post by scottpro1969 »

Let me say up front that I lurk and learn from everyone elses posts more than I post myself. That being said, it's my 100th!!! I really enjoy and appreciate this forum for all of us who not only love Rickenbackers but just playing and learning. I just wish I could figure out how to reduce the size of my digital pics to post one of my new 4003 Monty Brown!!!!

On another subject, I just received a toaster pickup and am contemplating ordering a custom gold pre '73 guard from Pickguardain to fit my 4003. Then, all I'll need is a gold TRC and horseshoe pickup to get the classic vintage look. I think all that would look awesome against MB. Plus, my main influence and "sound" I'm after is Macca. I know, for what I'll pay for customizing a 4003 I could just get a C series bass but, that Monty Brown...mmmmm.

HUGE thanks to Peter for this site. And thanks to John Hall for caring enough. Where else would the CEO of a company take the time to answer questions online concerning his product. He doesn't have to but, he does. Kudos John. And thanks!!!!

Pickguardian made this for my 4003FL, I suppose he could make a gold backed one for you as this is a white backed lucite PG. You will need to redrill a couple of mounting holes.

That is the only one I have in color to post at the moment so feast your eyes on the magic of black and white!

Really nice, Marc. Now all I would need is checkerboard binding, horseshoe and gold TRC.

Jeffrey,
Other than drilling a new hole near the bridge pickup, did the other screw holes and controls line up on the pickguard?? Love the B&W pics btw. You got flats on that one? Beeeeautiful grain too!!!

I did some routing of the control cavity to move a couple of pots around so the screw nearest the bridge was moved up a bit, but other than that, yes they will line up. You could have the PG made without the screw holes and drill them yourself to ensure they line up correctly.
