Italian dealer
I'm trying to buy one horseshoe and one toaster pickup for my '98 4003 but the Italian RIC dealer doesn't import them. They said that nobody buy RIC here in Italy. I called Mr. Mike Parks but he told me that he only sell RIC parts to Us & Canada due to franchise agreement... Well, I can't buy these pickups... I thought my next bass would be a 4004 but maybe I should look at some other brand... It's only a vent.
Marcinkus: Why not put your request under the Rickenbackers Wanted Topic and maybe someone will be able to sell you a used one? If you don't have any luck, you may contact me directly. If RIC is reading this, perhaps they have a suggestion.

I should add that getting parts when not living in the US is precisely impossible.
Importers don't even care to put any of them on their catalogs ; if they do... well, I'm still waiting for the rick'o'sound I ordered back in '93.
The little grey box ain't very useful indeed but pickups and the like should also be available outside the US.
(Sure, you wouldn't go 'customize' a Rick like an average guitar but, still...)

The Italian distributor, Casale Bauer in Bologna, purchases these types of parts from us all the time. They, in turn, sell them in Italy through local dealers (and possibly directly to consumers- I don't know their policy). I can only imagine that this customer asked his local dealer to import the product which would indeed not be possible.
Parts supply does vary from country to country, just as the business styles vary from one distributor to the next. However, some of them make quite an effort to parts, such as Rosetti parts.

I wish you luck in finding a used toaster. I guess the good news is, that it is possible to get one which is a step ahead of your concern at the time you made your first post. Let's hope your Wanted post is productive.
