Well, the verdict is in.....4005WB through my "new" Ampeg SVT and my newly acquired Sunn 2x15 bass cab.....well the settings aren't too hard to figure out as this head is pretty much straight forward VOLUME!! WOW Bob Young, you were right!! It's a chest thumpin', window rattlin', makin' stuff shake across the table, dimmin' the lights , wakin' the neighbors , makin' the dogs bark, bass machine and with the two 15's wired to 4 ohms in sync giving me 600 watts of available power, I am pretty much in my own little musical world right now! lol!!
I can't wait to get home tonight and serenade my lovely wife with "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" cranked at about 7-ish....HAPPY VALENTINES DAY , honey.... ;^)
..you know, if this bass had some real HOT Sergio p/u's in it.....

The pickups in both 4005's are very weak, when compared to the high-gains in my Shadows and even the '73.....gonna have to do something about that.....I mean, they sound GOOD, but its no comparison with the others....this amp combo brings out the "truth" in sound....
It's kind of unfair to the 4005's which are smokin', but those toasters need rewound, all of 'em

Chris, I'm enjoying reading all the posts. I don't have the serial number for my old 67. My 66 is supposed to arrive Thursday. According to the Smith book only 8 Mapleglo 4005's were made in 66. I'll give all the details when it arrives. Still trying to decide whether to use low gague rounds or flats. I'll try both and see which I like best.
