Thanks, Ted, for your gracious hospitality, knowledge, and advice on the restoration of my "honeyglo" '72. It was great to finally meet you and your buddy "Gordon" and enjoyed the time immensely.
Thanks for posting the photos, which should be grouped in a folder entitled "Beauties and the Beast." (Photos in thread "Mini Confluence".)
Ted's buddy "Gordon" brought a couple of his Ricks to the gathering, a lefty '75 Fireglo, and a lefty 2003 Cii Trans Red, and that was one gorgeous bass! Quilted front under that trans red with gold hardware. I think Gordo was as impressed with my one-off cherry Deluxe Hofner as I was with his Cii. We all had a great time. It was swell (nobody uses that term anymore, do they?) to noodle the strings of Ted's 4002, Shadow, Blackstar, '68(?) Fireglo, the 4003S8, and hoist the 4080. It helps confirm my desires for certain models to add to the collection.
Ted's basement workshop is equally impressive. Am I correct in saying you are self-taught in the art of bass tinkering? Lots of the "right" tools for the work he does. The 4005 he's working on is kinduva basket case, but it'll look great when it's ready to go off to the finisher.
Great time, guys. Thanks so much!

Glad your meeting with Ted went well. Those were some nice "action" pics of you and the RIC's(and Hofner!)..
It's taken some time, but several "mini" confluences have been taking place here recently...I'm so glad that these are happening more and more often.....we owe a debt of gratitude to Peter for giving us this great "soapbox" to voice our opinions and talk about our favorite stringed thingies, RICKENBACKERS!! .....THANKS PETER! ....and let's keep on getting together as much as possible!!

Well, there really wasn't an invitation as such. I asked Ted if I could come down some time and have him look at what could be done to my '72 to bring back it's old glory, so we arranged a meet.
But we should have a semiformal Chicago Confluence sometime. I don't know of any other forumites in SE Wisconsin, but there must be a ton (OK, at 200 pounds apiece, that's only ten guys) in Chicago. Maybe we can work something out . . . .
