Chicago area Ric luthier?

Post by heavyduty »

Anybody have any recommendations for a Chicago area luthier that knows Rickenbacker quirks? I'm not looking for repairs, simply a recrown and setup. Thanks!

Bob's Guitar Service
159 N Racine Ave
Chicago, IL 60607
(312) 275-0095
Chris Eudy is the proprietor.
They are VERY good. Go in and visit his shop, look around, ask some questions to get your confidence about what you need done. I think Chris and his guys can handle whatever you may need.

By the way, what do you need to have done?

A simple one - my "new" 4001 is w-a-y overdue for a recrown, plus I want a quality setup for a new type of strings. The prior owner was a longtime Rotosound user as evidenced by the fret damage.

Thanks for the tip!

You might also try Chicago (Vintage) Music Exchange at about 3000 N. Clark. One of the sales dudes is a member of The Beatle Brothers...nice guy...and they've brought in one of my favorite guitar techs (Jeffrey) from Guitarworks in Evanston. Bob's is also legendary. Good luck.
