Rick Grammy watch

Post by bassduke49 »

Spied a couple of Ricks on the Grammy show. Of course, "the Edge" from U-2 was playing slide on a Rick 12-string (you da man), but the only Rick bass was that of the bassist in Velvet Revolver. Looked like a black 4003 with a Badass bridge, but it could have been a Shadow or Blackstar. Bass players seldom get "air time" on live TV performances, unfortunately. This guy wasn't on for more that a couple of seconds total.

I didn't catch the show, but I always thought Duff was a Fender guy

The bassist in Franz Ferdinand was playing a Rick 4001/3 - all black I believe but it was hard to tell for certain. Duff is the bassist for Velvet Revolver but I believe he plays Fender basses. That would be cool if he had a Rick too!

I read that Motorhead won a Grammy for best metal song (for a cover of Metallica's Whiplash oddly enough)....it is too bad that they weren't playing at the show. It would have been great to see the 4004LK on TV.

Oliver - the bassist in Franz Ferdinand has a Jetglo 4001 with the pickguard replaced for a black one.

Shame he can't manage to exploit the 4001's characteristics, though...

His playing is dull and boring, almost as if he's got it because it's a Rick. And they look cool.

But, fair play and good luck to him... his bass, his group, etc etc.. Image

Yeah, that's the guy. Thought it was Velvet Revolver, so stand corrected. Again, they flashed on the screen for only seconds and was featured in the opening menage of bands, so I got confused.
