New York Trip
Hi all, going to New York next week (Manhatten) to see the Christo gates in Central Park. Looking for suggestions of music stores with equipment or sheet music of interest to a bass player. Also any ideas on clubs for blues or jazz.
Always wanted to be in a band. Got recruited as a begining bass player a year ago and just bought my second bass. A 1983 white 4003. Lovin' it all.

Yeah I was just there a couple of weeks ago (I live in LA). I stopped by Rudy's and played a 4001c64S (they also have a c64 FG which is sweet Jim Glen) through whatever ****** amp they had up there, and put it down pretty quickly. Cool bass but I don't know if it's worth the $2700 he wanted for it. If memory serves it was Manny's that has a handful of RIC guitars in stock including a lovely 620 Monty Brown. Have fun on your trip!!

Yeah I thought they were rather jerky and aloof as well - the guy who was supposed to be "helping" me was really irritated that I had asked to please see any Rick basses they have. He stomped up the stairs and sat there and hovered over me while I was checking out the c64s. Nice stuff in the store though, I agree with you John.

I had a good purchasing experience at Rudy's a couple of months ago, but then I was served by the most gorgeous brunette in blue angora (and I do mean a she). If only she'd been a bass player....
Sam Ash is just too hard sell for me, and I'm leery about their instrument care - they had a C64FG w/o trc, just carelessly propped by the checkout, ready to be tripped over, on at what appeared to be list price.
