Paint and chrome polish

Has anyone used touch up paint on Ricks? I have a couple minor dings on my white 1983 4003. Thinking about getting a custom match locally and touching up. Obviously it would not look orig, but might make it a little less obvious. Also what about chrome polish for a little tarnish on the hardware?
Always wanted to be in a band. Got recruited as a begining bass player a year ago and just bought my second bass. A 1983 white 4003. Lovin' it all.

I use brasso occasionally on some of the chrome to remove tarnish but I remove the chrome before polishing so as not to ruin the finish. I'm also careful to get all the chrome polish off before re-installing the part.

Jeff,
Be catious with Brasso, it's a mild abrasive and will in the end dull a chrome finish.

Try A1, and for the Brits HP brown sauce. It'll remove tarnish without risking the polish. If you can, remove the bridge, or any chrome you want to clean and soak it in A1-HP for an hour or so, then wash with warm water and dry.

This also works for jewellry and will clean small intricate settings without damage.

What am I supposed to do when all the gorgeous female bassists jaw-drop over my Cheyenne, only to realise it stinks of my kitchen cupboard...?! Image

MAAS is great for taking tarnish off old tuners and cleaning up bridges etc...

Yes you did ... works great for cleaing gold chains etc.

Mark, the key, and importnat step is "wash with warm water then dry" There is no smell left behind ....
