Baffled Ric Higher-ups?

I suspect that this is a parts guitar and a hacked one at that. Rare is not a word I would use to describe it.

Shouldn't that horseshoe actually BE a horseshoe? Looks like the metal cover over a hi-gain. That makes it even MORE RARE!

its either a 72-73 no horsey 70s pickguard-headtock has what appears to be paint chips revealing no walnut wings-shorter headstock look the vintage tuners barely fit enough is enough.

The pickguard gives it away as being a 70's bass as well as the headstock.

60's rics had the larger pickguard that reached the treble pickup surround.

It may have been someones attempt to make this bass more like a 4001s?

Well, I'm concerned. I mean, since IT IS STILL BEING RESEARCHED BY THE PRESIDENT OF RICKENBACKER AND STAFF, we don't want production put on hold or any delay. JH and Kenny are probably staying late just so they can look through old records. I say let's get to the bottom of this so the corporation can move forward again.

I agree with Ted, this is a frankenbass.
