Rickenbackers at Auction

Post by rkbsound »

Is it my imagination or do the same Rickenbackers come up for auction time after time on E-Bay? Are there any other good places to see Ricks for auction online? I'm not sure I could buy one online, but you never know, if the price were right...E-Bay prices always seem a bit high to me-- especially for the well worn ones.

This is not something which is limited to Rickenbackers. I check out other makes too, and sometimes the same old guitars come back, and back, and back, time after time, month after month.

In some ways, it's not unlike what you see in Vintage Guitar Magazine -- some of the dealer's ads list guitars for months and even years, hoping someone will spy it for the first time and buy. I don't even bother with those dealers, since it is apparent that they have too high an opinion of the item they're trying to sell.

The listings on eBay for Ricks are not as extensive as they are for some other makes, so you may be noticing some of the guitars coming up simply because they 'stick out' (?).

I'm not sure of other auctions sites -- I'd guess eBay is by far the most popular, and thereby sees the greatest number of guitars.

Only other suggestion to assemble the most guitars by make might be http://www.gbase.com.
