A double necked Ric?

Post by emswife »

Last night, one of my patients claimed to be the original owner of a '70's era "double necked" Ric. He described it as being kind of a cream color with brown fire-glo.

He said the 12 string neck was on the top and the 6 string neck below. He didn't have any more info but he also was very adamant that he had no desire to part with it. According to him, it had been valued at around $4k.

Was this guy describing a real issue Ric or was it just the medication talking? Anyone know? Can anyone post a photo?

Ric made at least two styles of doublenecks. One a solid body with bass and geetar.
And a hollow body with 6 and 12 string geetars.

BTW, if he wants $4K, tell him I'm waiting. In all seriousness, though, how about some pix?

Actually, the model designation "362" is more correctly "362/12", as indicated in a 1970s catalog at the RIC web site (http://www.rickenbacker.com/images/cf75-7.jpg).

The last two 362/12s on Mike Parks' site (http://www.the-music-connection.com/riccol.htm) sold for $4695 (1982 WHT) and $5495 (1974 JG). There was one on eBay last year, but I can't remember the asking price (I don't think it sold).

It's these high prices that gave me the incentive to embark on my "622/12" solid-body doubleneck project. If I can ever get moving on it! After waiting over a year for a friend to clear his garage out and set up his table saw, I have pretty much resigned to getting a saw of my own and get started. It won't be easy sending two $900 guitars into a spinning blade ...

I remember those Dbl. Necks, I had to do the binding on them, neck and body. Quite hard to do and scrape. Still these are so beautiful, I might build one for myself in the near future.
