Hello....... I'm new
Can anyone tell me what would be the best Ric for a woman? I'm just learning to play and wanted to get a really good guitar that's not to heavy.

Denise: Welcome to The Rickenbacker Forum. What type of music do you like to play? Most Rickenbacker guitars are not that heavy and I would be guided moreso by the sound I wanted to achieve rather than slight differences in the weight of the instrument (bass guitars excepted perhaps). Melissa posts here and I am sure that she will be helpful in answering some of your questions Melissa?

Sizewise, Denise, 620s and 660s are nice and compact, but seem to be a bit heavier than a 330, although RIC officially says both are 8 pounds...

A 620 or a 330 would be a good, reasonably economical choice. The lightest RIC I have is my 325c58, it's almost like a feather compared to the others; the RIC web site gives the weight as 5.0 lbs! What model to get may depend on your budget.

Denise I would go with the Model 330 or Model 360 with toaster pickups."but I guess if I had to pick one or two it would be The Beatles and The Beach Boys"

Hi Denise, and welcome.
I'd be looking at a 330, however it's got quite a large body. If you are somewhat petite that may be a bit of a problem. If you are, a 620 would be a good place to start (should be a bit cheaper than the 330, too). I've got both body styles and they are very different (to me, anyway).
My suggestion would be to get yourself into a RIC dealer (take your favourite strap) and try them on for size. You don't have to play if you don't want to (I always get embarrassed when I do!!) - just get the feel of them both, particularly in relation to the neck length and your strumming hand position.
BTW, Getting a top quality instrument while you're learning is the best thing you could possibly do IMHO!
Cheers and best of luck!

Denise, the 330 is a reasonably-priced Rick. My fear, however, is that you will find it too large for your size. I posted a picture of my assistant, Regina, who is 5'1", holding my 381 and 660-12.
The 381 is very slightly (1/8") larger than a 330, which is 15" wide. You can see how huge it looks next to her. A 330 is sort of squared off, so it could feel even larger.
The 660 is a solid body (same as a 620) with a 13 1/4" width and is 1 1/4" thick. You can see the proportion of the guitar to her body.
The 330 and the 620 are fairly close in price, and I think the 620 should be a bit cheaper. One (330) is semi-hollow, the other is solid.
I hope this helps!

Denise. welcome, you might try classic axe for one at www.classicaxe.com. They currently have a good selection but there are many other to order from, another is North Coast Music or the-music-connection.com. Just a few examples, there's more.
