Brian, they told me the reason it was in the outlet was because it was a canceled order that had rececntly arrived !!! They had no awareness of it's rarity, or value.

Hard to fathom !!!!

Jim, you never know what happened. It's possible someone ordered it, then cancelled it because he got a confirmed order from someone more reliable. If it happened back in 2001, we all know it's possible it was just received now.

I wonder how they're going to explain to me that I can't have it when I just ordered and paid for it. Maybe there is a disclaimer in their terms of service.

In any event, I just got off the phone with Mike Parks on another matter and mentioned this to him. He nearly had a heart attack, as we all did here.

Ah, the man still needs the treble PU cover for him to rest his palm on. Not so easy on they eyes as far as I'm concerned..but hey, it works for him. He also likes the strap button on the neck heel.

I actually prefer the prototype that only has 2 pickups in the usual 4003 and post-'73 4001 positions so that I wouldn't be hitting and scraping the middle pickup when picking.

On the production version how does the toggle split the p/u's? Does it pair the mid and bass or the mid and bridge? Is it a 4-way? Or what? Just curious....it's not like I'll ever get mine to actually see (yes, I'm still angry).

That treble pickup cover/handrest looks SO daft on Lemmy's bass, doesn't it. Image

The proto. LK with twin HB1s is positively delightfully gorgeous... a big wow.

I don't see any reason to begin liking the LK unless I fluke into owning one. Image

The rest looks awful.

I also like the two pickup model much better. I'd like it even better with high gains.

I like the "Star" inlays Image a Nice little overlooked detail on that one.
