I found this 330 on the web but have no idea what it is made of. Maybe it's just the paint??

Neil, it's a 381. It looks like the pic has been tampered with by digital editing (photoshop etc). The 381 has glorious curly maple tops generally & this m/glo example has been accented by the editing.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Ahhh yes. I can tell it's a 381 now, the color of the top through me off.

Tony has hit it on the head. It is beautifully figured. By playing with contrast & brightness, color saturation, and color balance controls, you can achieve this effect in a picture. Also, this photo is massively compressed, and exhibits lots of (bad) digital artifacts of different types.

Yeah, thats my old '95 381. And yes, I did edit the image a bit by manipulating the contrast. That 381 was one of the most beautifully figured that I have come across.

John, you said it! My own 381, while gorgeous in its own right, has nowhere near the figuring yours does. Wow! I could not resist kicking up the contrast, either.
