Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

That's the longtail I was referring to.

The purple glo is kinda weird, though...(joke)

Alex--once you've done the research, with the help of Forum members, and you've decided it's feasible, don't even attempt to justify it--just do it.

You'll always find someone (like me) on this Forum who doesn't think it's daft.

And you'll find plenty of those who don't agree.

That's the nature of it--just do your best to please yourself.

I can hardly wait to see it! Good luck.

Neat.... petite! Where'd you dig that one up, Paul?

She may have been the inspiration for Blueburst!!

Ric certainly had some good looking models back then, there are a lot of them in the Smith book. There's one blonde I'm in love with, she's probably old enough to be my mother now though. Hey now there's a good idea John, use models now that look like your cousin, haha!

Bob, I know (not personally) the blonde you're referring to, and she was old enough to be your mother then, too!

How about the redhead! She's pretty hot, too.

Are they all related to John?!!!

Yeah you're right Paul, my grandmother then, haha! Gotta love the 50's women. Marilyn: the epitome of feminine pulchritude.

My cousin is over 60 now but she's still great looking even after 4 kids- runs marathons, that kind of thing.

Some of the models were professional but many friends or acquaintances. The blond I'm sure you're referring to was in the former category, named Smokey, and there's still a copy of her portfolio around here somewhere.

Also, there's a photo of Smokey obviously at a tradeshow wearing nothing but a Rickenbacker banner. When I found this, I took it to show my dad who was 89 or 90 at the time and asked him to 'fess up. He shook his head and said he didn't remember. You could see in his eyes that this was true but that he really wanted to remember.

This sort of thing is quite nostalgic. It is an amazing view into a history-changing contribution made by one family of dedicated creative and business types to the visual, musical and cultural landscape of the Western world. I'm sure that F C Hall didn't intend to change musical history in the way it happened; he wanted to build beautiful guitars of good quality and by doing so carry on running a profitable business. But see what happened! It must feel like trying to hold onto a tornado, sometimes!

Those pictures are not only Rick product shots, they are an insight into the past, as John's experience with his father and the Smokey pic would illustrate.
