2020 and 2060 basses

Post by crazypink »

Does anyone know approximately how many 2020 and 2060 basses were produced, and what colours they were produced in?

Other than limited editions, RIC does not discuss production totals.

The 2000 series could probably be had in any of the standard finishes. One catalog I have lists the colors of at least one production year as being:

Midnight Blue
Silver
Ruby
White
Red
Mapleglo
Fireglo
Jetglo

I had always assumed from info i have read since it ceased production, that the 2020 and 2060 were never produced in large numbers in the 5 years it was produced, compared to other Rickenbacker bass models!

Jeff Rath knows a lot about the 2000 series. Maybe he will chime in here. I think the 2030 is the most common of the 2000's.

I have only ever seen pictures on various sites of 2020 and 2060's in jetglo, red, mapleglo and metallic turquoise. I have read various for sale ads with no photo's which spoke about fireglo and midnight blue but have not personally seen them. Im only aware of two members on here with 2020 in red (jeff rath) and 2060 in turquoise! Are there any others?

A 2050 is a bound 2030 with gold hardware. What is a 2060?

Any excuse to show your collection of 2000 series Jeff, but I must say Im surprised you havent got a 2050 or 2060. Ive wanted any of the 2000 series for at least 12 years and they rarely come up for sale here in the UK. There must be a load out there, but only a few have made it to the forum, correct me if Im wrong Jeff, but there is only one 2020 and one 2060 in the forum!

The 2060 replaced the 2050 as being the deluxe top of the range bass in the 2000 series range, the 2020 replacing the 2030!

How is the 2060 different from the 2050?

This is my '91 2030.

As far as I know the pick up configuration/type of pick up is different, the neck and fret board is maple on the 2060 and is rosewood on the 2050. Here are some photo of a 2050.

I think the 2060 will have one volume and one tone and one toggle switch and binding ...
