The Wonders

Post by simer4001 »

I was watching "That Thing You Do" the other evening. (I love that movie) Was the RIC that Jimmy was playing a 360V64? I couldn't tell if it was 6 or 12 strings. I think a 4005 bass would have looked good with the bass player. By the way...I love how he didn't have a name. He was only referred to as the bass player. In fact at the end when they were showing what they were doing now, the called him TB Player.

Another obscure one. While working out the other evening they had the "One Day at a Time" reunion. They were showing the bit when the two girls were dressed up as Elton John and Kiki Dee. The guitar player was playing a RIC. It was to hard to tell which model it was, but it was a fireglo finish. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Thanks John! Like I said, a 4005 would have looked good in that movie.

But of course!
An all Rickenbacker playing band would have been something. Sort of like the The New Establishment. LOL.

I wonder (no pun intended) if Tom Hanks just purchased the guitar, or if he received one from RIC?

The guitar was provided courtesy of Rickenbacker.

That's a really good movie. I saw a documentary on that some time ago. It seems they actually took lessons and learned to play the instruments. Tom Hanks wanted it to be as realistic as possible on the band side. The soundtrack is really good. Good stuff.

I'm told that Tom had one of these guitars well before the movie and that he kept it in his office to relax with. But we did lend them some gear during the filming as we have done for a number of other projects.

The O'neders were okay but I thought Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters put on a much more memorable performance.

Absolutely Dane. Lenny even states that Capt. Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters were one of the groups that "popped his cherry".

John, what are some other projects you have loaned out equipment for?

I believe that Paul and Linda movie a while back had a prototype of the 4001C64S, I think.

I think you're right. In fact, I think that particular model is the one that John Hall presented to Paul.

I couldn't watch that movie though. It seemed a bit cheesy to me.
