Hi Paul, she sure is a beauty, thats why I love Fireglo so much, a touch of class! How is she sounding, what type of amp are you playing her through?

Sounds just like my other CII/5 (wow, I really like saying that)....I play through an ART Nightbass preamp and Tube Works MosValve power amp. I have Mesa Eng. Powerhouse cabs (4x10 and 1x15).

Paul....are you happy with the Nightbass?

Just asking because I had one for years and used it as a preamp but was never really happy tone wise until I scrapped it and went another route. I liked it more as an effects processor than as a stand alone pre.

BTW....nice CII/5 Image

No offense Paul, but I have not heard any great things about that ART preamp either. I bet your Ciis would sound really great through something like an Alembic F-1X or even that new Fender TBP-1 preamp.

......just to be clear, I wasn't trying to be critical of your setup either Paul. I just wanted to mention my experience in case you were in the same boat as I was. When I picked up my Ampeg SVP-Pro I was blown away by how much better everything sounded. Another one to add to Jeffrey's "check it out" list, if you are interested, is the Sansamp RBI.

I too, wasn't being critical, just that I know you can sound better than you do now. If you need the effects, uses a separate, dedicated effects unit and leave the amplification do it's thing. Image

No worries guys, I didn't take any offense on the Nightbass comments. I have built some custom patches that I like but given the number of years that I have used it, there are likely better options now. I would like to stay with a separate preamp/power amp set up so am very open to suggestion.

Regards,

Paul
