Using a 360/12 as a 6-string guitar
Hello I'm new to this forum. Who has some experience on using a 360/12-string as a 6-string guitar. I already bought a 360/12 and I like the Rickenbacker sound very much. Now I can buy a second hand 360/12 that a want to use as a 6 string guitar. Does it sound and play the same as a 360/6 or is there any difference?
It's not a problem, but the draw backs are:
1. 12 string headstock is heavier, which is one of the few complaints from some players, the six string has a better weight and balance over all.
2. Might have to do truss rod adjustment, because there will be less string tension. (The Ric truss rods are easy to adjust)
3. 6 strings are usually $100-$150 cheaper than 12's.

I play a 330/12 as a 6-string, and find the neck is much chunkier than my regular 330/6 (though this may have to do with the style of neck made in 1980, and not that it is a 12-string).
Secondly, the strings are not centrally spaced at the nut, and may require it to be moved a mm or so, or even a new nut. (It's not central at the bridge end either, but this is unnoticeable)

Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights do make a left.
