1960 Liverpool (Hamburg?)Tapes - Instrument Lineup

Post by lennonon »

Anyone willing to take a guess what instruments they are playing on the seminal rehearsal tape. I recently came into possession of the whole tape - I believe it's John, Paul, George and Stu. Stu must be on the Hofner bass (all but invisible on the tape....) George on the Futurama, perhaps? There's at least one acoustic. Could John be on his Hofner? I can't get a sense from the tapes. Maybe someone knows the lineup they had at the time.
(Note: excerpts from this tape are on Anthology I - Hallelujah I love her so, etc.)

Very cool photos. So anyone care to guess, listening to the tapes and looking at the photos. Is John using the Hofner? Could this be the Rosetti captured on this tape....????

Is this different than Live at the Star Club Recordings? I didn't know any tapes available from 1960. Where'd you get them?

There's excerpts from them on Anthology I including Hallelujah, I Love Her So, You'll Be Mine and Cayenne.

Also, I will Always Be In Love With You featured in the Anthology film. All from a 2 + hour rehearsal reel from sometime in 1960. Some say it's recorded at Paul's place in Liverpool, others on the first trip to Hamburg.
