Henny, is that your bass again, have you been playing around with Photoshop? Its another great pic, and a great advert! Rickenbacker should get you to do their ads for them, theyre in need of a good add for the 4004C and 4004L, I have only ever seen this one!

Not all Laredo's are solid color. I'm expecting my Fireglo to show up Monday! Image

Not sure I'd care to put a pickguard on a 4004, as it appears to me that the lack of one is a part of the design.

I couldn't put a pickguard on this!!!

It would cover up too much of the pretty wood.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I really just want the pickguard for protective purposes. So I can play it without fear of scratching it. It would have to be clear and not screw in.

Basses are made to be played and get scratched ...

speak for your own basses, mine get pampered. i don't pride myself in beat up gear. having a plexi pickguard is no worse than converting a 4 to 5.

a bass guitar is a tool ... not something to be worshipped ... I take care of my basses but I also use them ... they get a few scratches and dings ... and the reason I convert them is to make them a better tool ... none of my gear is beat up ... and some of it is pristine ... but most of it has some signs of use ...

I have some beaters, but have some that I worship. I don't think its fair for any of us to tell anybody how to treat their stuff. If someone wants to worship...build an altar and let them worship.

I don't like the 4004's in traditional Ric colors, they just look like a 4003 without a pickguard, kind of homemade, like people used to do to Fenders way back when. On the other hand they look great in mapleglo and the other see through colors that you can only get with them.
I think the BB 4003's are really nice looking but I don't like that 4004 in BB, sorry Marc.

you are right ... it is your bass do with it what you want to ... but to me it is another tool ... just more expensive and cooler than my dremmel ... I took my 4004CI out last week and people just loved it ... they had never seen a Ric like that before ...

Marc....Ya, a clear pickguard or even gold would be cool. Unfortunately, the only way I could design and fit it properly would be to actualy have the bass or another 4004 here. Any 4004 owners in the area wanna get involved with this "mad act of 4004 treason"?
