Stupid me--been lurking for a couple of months and posted twice, then I remembered about introductions! Sorry about that....my name's Mike Carlson,I live in Duluth, MN....I've only got one Rick (so far), a 1980 4001 that WAS burgundy when I got it in 1984. Being young and dumb at the time, I decided to repaint it (I know, I know...)since I'm an artist with the airbrush in my normal day job. Anyway, I didn't do anything gaudy or loud, just irridescent blue w/ chameleon topcoat. Other than paint, it's completely stock, no mods. Then I've got 2 Fenders, a '97 P-bass Special, candy apple red, Dimarzio P/J pickups, Badass II bridge.....and a '99 MIA Precision, metallic purple, Dimarzio split pickup, maple fingerboard. For amp I've got an Ampeg B4-R running through an Ampeg BSE410-HLF and an old Peavey cab with a single 18" BW speaker. I play in a blues/old rock band (anything to keep 'em on the dancefloor!) in the Duluth/Superior area, we're called The Busters. I just joined up with these guys last April--was on the verge of giving up playing music and was going to sell my equipment after my best friend (hunting, fishing and jamming buddy) died unexpectedly last Jan. of a heart attack while snow blowing his driveway. Then out of the blue I got 2 different calls to try out for local bands, I went with the rockers over the country band! The Busters opened the Bayfront Blues Fest in Aug. 2004 here in Duluth--I can't remember all the other bands that were there, but there was Little Richard, Koko Taylor. Lamont Cranston, and Big Walter Smith & The Groove Merchants to name a few.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to contributing what I can in the Rick forum--I've learned a LOT from all you people already!

welcome mike,i never made an introduction i just started posting ,i guess its like getting in front of the class and the teacher saying so tell us about yourself ,its easier to try to just blend in .its a pretty relaxed here great bunch of guy's and gal's i can be a little or alot obnoxious with my point of view and ill humor i think I'm tolerated at best,anyway welcome.
Um, slight problem with posting pics right now--I don't have a digital camera....but I plan on getting one very soon, maybe this week. I turn 48 tomorrow and although I already got myself a birthday present ('97 mapleglo 4003 from a guy in San Diego, off E-bay for $950+shipping) I've been needing to get a digital camera for some time. I'll see what's on sale at Best Buy this week. If anybody really wants to see what I can do with the airbrush, then check out this page:

There's a photo of me with a painting of a whitetail deer that I did a couple of years ago--my hair isn't really that gray, just bad light! In that painting the deer itself is life-size...I measured the antler tines to be exact.
So Rick Germany is from Superior--interesting!
Although I see in your profile that you're now living in Boston--been there a few times when I used to live in Northfield, Vermont. I'm actually from Germany, born in a tiny village called Frankershausen, about an hour from Kassel, where my mom is from. My dad was in the US Air Force, so we moved around a lot when I was younger--I graduated from high school in Izmir, Turkey in 1975 and have also lived in Iceland.
Gotta stop here....have to e-mail a guy who wants to buy my '80 4001 and tell him it's not for sale....Later
