I can honestly say that this is the blackest 4001 that I have ever seen, (except for the bit at the top of the headstock that he must have been holding when he dipped it into the paint...).

I remember about a year ago there was a 1968 - 4000 that had the crest sawed off the headstock. Maybe that piece will fit to make the bass complete once again.

Maybe that bass is black hole-glo and it absorbs all the ambient light around it.
