Case for new bass
Hi Guys, I need a decent case for my 'new' V63 prototype bass. The case I got it with is fairly duff, not a Ric case, and is not moulded inside to the 4000 shape.
It it best just to bite the bullet and get a vintage case ( 222.00 UKP, over 400 USD .... gulp...) or is there a diferent/better way to keep it protected? It will be gigged, but not flown, just put in the back of my car.

One went on ebay two weeks ago for $153, I bid to $151. I know that doesn't help you though.

Ken, this is another good reason why I must get over to the US one of these days.. the UK importers of Rics, Rossete (sp?) are quoting 193UKP for a standard hardshell case & 222UKP for the vintage!!!
I am very serious that I might get over to the US and buy up about 10 - 12 4001's at somewhere like the Dallas Fair, bring them back to the UK, make a small profit on them, & do us Ric starved bass players a favour at the same time...

$148US dollars?????!!! Arrrggghhhh.
Like Bob, I'm after a couple of Rick cases, pref one vintage and one moulded, but again like Bob I'm in no hurry to fork out over £200 each ($400US to our US Forumites). I don't know how they can justify these prices over here when you can get them for $148!!!! It's times like this I wish I'd been born in the US (heck, MOST of the time I wish I'd been born in the US). ALL my favourite guitars - with the possible exception of Warwick -come from there, and they're all WAY cheaper.
Henny, I would've thought the problem with ordering from the US would be shipping; for something that big surely it'd be a fortune, making it less than cost effective? Also I recently queried the "replacement parts" issue with UPS after being hammered for import duties on my horseshoe and they told me it was rubbish! I take it they're not telling the whole truth.....
I'd be very grateful for any clarification.

....but find me somewhere in the UK with weather like California that sells Ricks and Alembics at US prices and I'm moving there....tomorrow!
