Hmmmm....

Thanks for that post, Bob. That's interesting. I hope it's not going to be a bad thing.

I know that there are some loyal vintage Ampeg fans on this Forum. I guess I'm more of a current Ampeg user.

My current gig amp is a V-4BH reissue from 1996. I love it, but it is different from the old ones. Still all-tube, though - 4 6L6's for power tubes.

It will be interesting to see if Ampeg makes any changes as a result of this acquisition.

Let me throw this out there...
I only recently bought my first Ampeg (B100R - could NOT be happier), but I was an active bassist when SLM first acquired Ampeg & I remember the groans from all of the keepers of the LOW END when that happened. "Crate has Ampeg now?!" was the cry.
It might not be a bad thing, I think that a company like Mackie (et. al.) would know better that to mess with Ampeg.

Hopefully.

Well, when SLM bought 'em, they gave us the Skunkworks SVT in '87..... I've got one and couldn't be happier!! Let's hope for the best!!

I have a skunkworks SVT also, #413. I converted it to 12DW7's like the 70's heads, that was the only real circuit difference between them.
