1989 330/6 on Aussie eBay

How about this one? Looks nice with the black hardware but the starting bid seems pretty steep to me.

Howard,

I'd be surprised if anyone bites at the opening bid. The subject instrument featured in an earlier thread, where the seller's first eBay listing made an number of completely inaccurate statements about Rickenbacker manufacturing guitars in Japan etc. At least the seller has now made an attempt to get the basic information right. As far as the price is concerned, "tell him he's dreamin'!"

This looks like a better buy locally:-

Darren's right..it's the one previously listed as a prototype:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=7305601780&rd=1

He says in the original auction that "it bears no serial numbers."

Seems to have aquired a serial in the new auction.
I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that he had been mislead about the guitar in the first place, but it sounds more like deception to me.

Doesn't sound like deception--sounds like a guy who was ignorant about Ricks, didn't do his homework the first time around and continues to take flak for it.

I'd bet he had heard of Rickenbacker before, but had no idea that his misstatements (which he claimed were the work of a friend who he thought was knowledgeable) would get him in hot water.

Now it seems he's at least gone thru the trouble of getting some nice pics (a jackplate that's IN FOCUS! Wonders!) and relisting it.

Yeah, he's an eBay newbie. His high opening bit is a common mistake. Look for a third listing in a couple of weeks!
