Post by brett_bottomley »

Hi everyone
I'll be taking my family to the UK in 5 weeks to share my passion for green hills, Castles and
the best ales in the world. I'll be in Northern Wales (castle heaven) and Yorkshire is there anyone on the forum with a gig in this part of the world in mid april I'd love to meet up.

Hi Brett, I live in the North Yorkshire Dales 4 miles from Raby Castle, 5 miles from Barnard Castle, 12 miles from Richmond Castle and close to lots more, but more importantly I only live 50yards from a pub! However I don't have any gigs in mid April (yet).

I live near Warwick Castle - It's a brilliant places (as far as castles go and near to Stratford Upon Avon - Home of the Bard) so if you're in the area I'll tell ya some good pubs, venues etc...

What sort of music are you into?
Tell me does it feel the same when you've set upon a change but your heart's in the old times?

Hi Guys

I,ve been to Stratford and Warwich Castle great places however I'm stayin north this trip. I'm into all good music. Jazz is my first love but good rock, blues, classical are all wonderful.

Peter - I'll be in Wensleydale (Askrigg)
for 5 days do you have any pub or music recomendations in the area? Family friendly pubs that serve old peculiar on tap would be lovely.
also do you know of anywhere where Sam Smith is on tap? I'd travel a bit for that.

Hi Brett, I'm in Teesdale (two dales up from Wensleydale. The band that I work with has a gig in Richmond (15 minutes from Wensleydale) on the 8th April, and one in Crook (1 hour away) on the 16th. We may have more by then. I presume that you have had Old Peculiar before (people who aren't used to it usually pass out after 2 pints). What dates will you be up here? Where will you be based? How many lefty Rickys are you going to bring me??? Regards, Peter.

Philip, Do you know of a band "Amazing Blondel" who hail from your parts? they toured with a band that I worked with around 1970. They are still on the go with the original line up. (Odd folky/classical/old-English music).
