John,
I may fall under your "low road" comment also. It is no secret, especially here, that some products have taken (or are taking
) a long time to get into the hands of those of us that ordered them. A comment on fact.....especially with a

Like Adam said it was just a joke among fellow Ric fiends

John is into cars and flying, so it had to be a Recaro orange crate! From what I learned from John, that photograph for the ad took a LOT of work as John Clang is obsessed with sharpness, requiring a bunch of individual elements being comped into the final image. Hats off to RIC for getting the opportunity to be a part of this ad campaign!

Wow, you tell a guy to stop infringing on your company trademark and he holds a grudge forever. Adam, I hope you took it easy on your dictionary with that witty remark. I bet you ace all your vocabulary tests at school! Good for you. By the way, yes, that line about launching the project in record time was classic.
Whoa!! Obviously Adam has upset the troops here!
Perhaps we can all let bygones by bygones? Adam's received the letter(s) from the legal parasites and has ceased and desisted. RIC's proprietary interests have been well served and satisfied.
Hail RIC for protecting themselves. Hail Adam and Brian for speaking their respective minds.
Perhaps asking before demanding may have got the message across a bit easier. Then again, I don't know the full history so I may well be far out of court here. Please tell me if I am (no details, just tell me!!)
Moving forward now...........

I think we all share some of Adam's discontent that it takes a while to get a brand new Ric bass ... and probably some of us wish that Ric was a little more like Carvin ... with a custom shop and such ... but then again we don't want our Rics to look or sound like Carvin basses ...
but back to the custom shop thing ... gee if we could order a 4001/4003 with full width inlays and checkered binding and whatever pickups we desire and what color we like and get delivery in 3 months ... me thinks us forum members would jump for joy ...

With the Vespa reference as well as the link to the Thai publication and the web-based clues, I thought for a minute that RIC might be going in the direction of this type of thing:
www.scootrs.com
Check out their website. This is a company, owned by a Canadian, who relocated to Viet Nam and restores classic Italian scooters (Vespas and Lambrettas). The innovative aspect of it is that you can select, on line, the features and level of restoration you want on your personal scooter, and it prices it all out for you. A custom shop for scooters.
Obviously, I was way off, and I'm quite relieved that JH has no plans on moving production overseas. On the other hand, this ScootRS business model is intriguing, no?
