'68 4001 for sale

Post by scottpro1969 »

I just found this site by accident. Billy's Bass Place. I don't know anything about them but they claim to have a '68 4001, '73 Jetglo 4001 w/checkerboard binding and a '75 4000. Scroll down to Rickenbacker. Just thought I'd pass it along.

I also called a few months ago and spoke with Billy. He told me he needed a new digital camera, and he was going to send pics later.
After that he responded to my email and said the same thing. Still no pics.
Scott, this was the bass that had the horseshoe pickup in, that I think your where interested in.
See thread under Ric Appraisal's "73 JG with checherboard binding".
Buy it before someone else does.

Grovers should be stock on a '73. Ric used grovers for a while up through the early eighties however you can find both types of tuners in the same year.
a couple of Shadows a Blackstar and an Annie.

I had a couple of pics of this M/G bass on my old computer. It looked very nice and had a reissue H/S installed although they told me the original comes with it.
If it is still about, (and I,d be surprised at $4K) then someone should jump on it before the 60's 4001 basses truly become the privilege of the wealthy collector.

Billy is here in Atlanta and I bought a fender case from him a couple of years ago....He seems like a nice guy...he's had both of those ricks for quite a while though...if anyone is really serious about either of those ricks I'd be happy to pre-check them out. dm
