We have the Holden made Pontiac GTO. There is a gas guzler tax on it though.

Cars/guitars = subjective.
(Although the WRX performs great, I couldn't see myself driving one everyday.)

Aussies like their V8s. Americans are becoming more and more divided over this, having suffered at first and now benefited from the influx of Asian cars.

Subarus used to be pure ****. Those days are over. Yes, it's a different ball game; chalk and cheese, I love V8's and have driven many of them--my first car in 1967 was a Chevy 283, and my car just before the current SAAB was a Maserati DOHC V8 (now, THAT car has a SOUND!) which still occupies driveway space. Gas guzzler indeed! It got 7mpg around the city, 14 highway.

We've forgotten about those Capris.

And JW is very right. Subjective indeed.

I miss my old '56 Chevy...
356 Buick engine - aluminum flywheel & clutch assembly / Hooker headers / Hurst shifter (T-handle of course) 411 rearend / Holley quadrajet with Elderbrach hi-rise / Mickey Thompson wrinkle walls / "surfer foot" gas pedal / Sun tach... those were the days! And gas wars made ethyl about 15 cents a gallon - didn't worry much about the price in 1967!!

My last "toy car" was a '67 Mercury Cougar GT (390 4spd 450HP modern suspension.....a whole lotta fun). I've always been a muscle car kinda guy and will certainly get a SVT Cobra when they are available.....probably in '06 but I must admit that I have never had more of a day to day blast than I do now driving my '04 VW .:R32. It is basically a beefed up Golf with 250HP 6spd all wheel drive with HUGE brakes and is a hatchback which works out well for hauling my band gear. The AWD and stellar brakes plus the unbelievable traction (along with a very comfortable/driver friendly interior) makes for the most well rounded driving experience that I have had.
Rear wheel drive horsepower monsters are a blast but don't rule out other vehicles.....you may be sold (like me) once you check some of them out.

I know a guy with a '67 Baracuda - pretty cool old set of wheels... There's also an old Duster running around here and a '66 Plymouth Satellite (it's got a 413 wedge in it - VAROOOOOMMM)

Back to Lutz for a moment... I think he blew it, big time, on the GTO. The GTO's an American icon, like the Corvette and Viper. You don't just grab a bland looking box and slap a couple of GTO badges on it and declare it to be a phoenix risen from the ashes.

No, Lutz was making the typical mistake the former Big 3 have been making for years - looking for the quick fix. If he would have taken a little more time to develop a retro version of the GTO, he might have had a hit. But to think you can take something that everyone is instantly familiar with and substitute something that bears no resemblence to the original --- is either ignorant or arrogant or the hallmark of a desperado. I think Lutz is all of the above.

Have you guys ever tried Powerchord on your Ric?It seems to work pretty well.Here is a link to there website with some info about what it is and what it does. I bought it at my local guitar shop.
