Jeff, did you just say "each person can try roundwounds and then try the strings that sound bad" and "Everyone should make up their own mind" in the same post? Image
We definitely know where you stand! Image
To each his own, I say. I'm happy grinding on my rounds.

Darn. I want to get back to playing my round wounds but I can't seem to find my stapler. Has anyone seen it?

Hey they were playing here in New Brunswick just last week I am sure. Certainly the weather conditions are right for this time of year. Looks like they have enough office space.

In a round about way I see what you mean Jeff. A couple of loose windings around a Stihl core.

I think we ought to have Jeff and Bob record something [the same riff or song or solo]with their own sounds and let us judge.I want to hear Jeff's sound anyway thru the pod.

Here's a link to my web site and 6 of the 7 sound bytes there I am using a bass pod ... they are recorded with 5 different Ric basses all using round wound strings ... some are recorded analog, and some digital ... none are "professional" recordings ... the basses used are a 1968 4001, a 1973 4001, a 1990 4003s5, a 1993 4004L5, and a 1998 2020-5 ...
