How about...

"I use flats and I'm PROUD! I also just use my amp to get my "sound"..." Image

Pretty much sums me up...except I'm TRYING to get used to the RW's on my Laredo. Image

Tonight we are going to see how many basses have flats vs. rounds at the confluence, it may take a while however, as there must be over 30 here plus a few guitars!

I was just kidding ,i use flats and rounds but I'm not in a band so it really doesn't matter ,but if i were i probably would be using rounds ,i like the sound better i guess brighter more universal IMO.I was just reading the other thread Jeff wrote thud thud thud ,i was sorta poking fun at that ,stirring the pot, rounds or flats its all the same instrument we all love bass guitar.

Thud is the manna of bass. Flats are for 'real' bass players. Pods are for science fiction movies. RW's are for guitar player wanna-be's. BeeGee's Rock. Jeff, how are you going to feel when you see a 68 fireglo 4001 go for $15,000 in three years? haha!

As I've said (somewhere) before, I like rws on my 4003, Jazz bass, and Carvin B4. I like flats (Fender 9050s) on my P-bass, and my Hofner copy. I like the greater sustain on the 4003 with RWs and the brighter sound on the Jazz but the thud on the P-bass and Hofner copy seem to suit them better.
A '68 fireglo 4001 for $15,000 could happen next week on "the 'bay".
I'd rather die while I'm livin' that live while I'm dead!

Roundwounds here. Always has been, always will be. Personally I think Pyrmids sound like ***. Tried em once, thats all it took, FOR ME. One mans meat is another mans poison.

Flatwounds are nice for certain music but for ME i need fairly fresh stainless roundwounds and a pick.

Depending on the acoustics of the place, my bass can sound like woody mush regardless so i come prepared with the brightest harshest strings i can findImage

Whenever things get too quiet around here you can always count on the good old flatwound/roundwound debate to make things interesting.
