Very, very well said, Paul and Kira. Agree 100% and thanks for taking the time to construct such very well-reasoned and to-the-point posts.
This was one thing that I noticed when I first started absorbing everything I could about Rick lore, history and ownership, back in early '05: how those on the attack against RIC were so verbal, over-the-top, and at times personally offensive about the legacy (which I think is an appropriate term to encompass the tightly and complexly interwoven threads of the Rickenbacker experience).
You don't see folks getting personal and arrogant to this extent about Fenders, Martins, Gibsons, et. al.. And I've come to the conclusion that the fact that JH is in the forefront as the Company's CEO and liaison to its customers--a role that he assumes by choice, not by necessity, because he cares and gets a genuine kick out of his life's work--makes him a target with a face, which in turn makes him easier for some sociopaths to focus upon when they have the Need to Bash. This is also true of Ben and to some extent, Kenny, Rchard and Eric.
Remember--RIC is a privately-owned corporation. They exist on the strength and success of their products, and what they are doing must be right in order for them to have enjoyed such long-lived success and continue to operate and prosper. They owe us as consumers nothing except products that we see fit to buy at their prices. Yet they continue to up the ante and surprise us with innovation while maintaining some quirks for flavor.
We vote with our wallets, which keeps them in business. But it's the "legacy" that intrigues and involves us, so we inject a personal note here and there, mostly as a way to express our own concerns and preferences. And it behooves us to do this in a considerate manner, because, more than almost any other company I can name, this Company is the life's work of a group of Real People, not faceless drones.

Well written Paul A, Kira and Paul W. I completely agree with every word.
I think someone already mentioned that this forum is for people who appreciate Rickenbackers and want to share a passion and interest. Whilst we are all entitled to our views, this is not the place to verbally abuse the family who have made Rickenbacker what it is today. You didn't have to spend your hard earned cash on a Rickenbacker. I assume it was your choice. You could always buy something else.

Short cuts are the American way nowadays.
I have a very strong feeling that Ben will never be one of those kind of sons, just as John wasn't either.

Nice to see you posting, Sarah. I completely agree with you!

So I'm thinking to myself "Man, if RIC takes this much time to build a guitar, they must be spending an awful lot of time on getting it right; no slapped together, bolt-'em-up, dunk 'em in the paint vat product here."
So I guess what I'm saying is acknowledge the frustration, do your deep breathing exercises, and let the frustration go. In the end, those of us waiting in line will get our turns, and that large, rectangular box will arrive on our doorsteps one day, and we'll forget about how we ranted over our frustrations on the Ric Resource Forum, and the pennies we've saved up won't be burning holes in the pockets of our jeans anymore.

The RickResource Forum was created in the spirit of celebrating Rickenbacker instruments.
Life is so very short. Jangle on.

Did
wooly mean to write "running" (meaning "operating on a daily basis") or "ruining", meaning "spoiling")?
Yes to the former, a definite NO to the latter.
Gosh, sometimes spelling is sooo critical to meaning.

Good grief, what in the hell was the original topic? This has turned in to a circus of scorn and multiple unrelated issues. Let this thing die and move on. It's like watching a drunk drink himself to death. This is not aimed at anyone in particular.
Facts:
1)We all love our Ricks.
2)We all wish we could have everything our way all the time(be honest)
3)Arguing about the Ric Corp or the Hall family doesn't do anything that will get you a double bound 330 or a horse shoe in the boutique, it just fosters ill will.
4)Shut up and play your guitar!
Now get over it and have a nice day!

Actually, most of this thread was generally on topic, which was about fakers and faking. But I agree, I'm over it. I'm having more fun with Amy Humphrey's acrylic nails now, and her 12-string bass...

I need new glasses!

I read it as
ruining. I stand by my statement, however, in that John didn't and Ben won't
ruin RIC.
Actually RIC did not even exist when John first bought the company from his dad.
