I didn't notice that about the bridge pickup, it looks like both pickups are back to where they were on the original Cheyennes. I would like to see them like they are on the 4005, with the bridge pickup much closer to the bridge.

I didn't realize that, you're right about pickup position being changed to that of the original Cheyennes. The two 5Cii's should sound a bit different, which for me is good.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Oops! I was in a hurry and I thought I had cancelled the post, sorry.
When I saw the basses listed on POTR I emailed Chris asking for pics and he said the red one was already taken so I just went ahead and bought the blue one as I had been looking for a 4004CII/5 for the longest time!
Joey, thanks for the welcome. As usual, I had been lurking for quite some time now and I finally decided to start posting.
Let see if I can do the pic thing here:

Ha! I did it but it is too small! Í hope I'll get the hang of it soon enough.
Thanks Jeffrey for the answer on the pick ups placement. It does make sense!
I'll give the pic thing another shot:

Hey Joey - could you let me know if there's a sonic difference between the two basses.
And if you don't mind, try slapping on the red one let us know if the pup is an issue.

cheers!

I wonder if the pickup placement is going to be the same for the 4004cii? I have one on order and I don't know if I like this new pickup placement.

It appears to be Steve. Look at Ed Romans site. There's a 4 string Trans Blue with that positioning!

I feel the same. I was just about to place a 5 string order with MP, we talked earlier this week and then I saw this...

Waiting to hear from a few "sources"

cheers!

All 4004's from now on will have the bass pickup farther up like that. Easier to take the truss rods out.

I will Andy, and I hope they do sound different, it will justify having two 5Cii basses even more. Image

What's more important, removing the truss rods or playability?

In 30 years of playing I’ve had to remove the rods twice – once on my P bass and once on my V?

The neck pickup on my 4005WB is right up against the neck and I have no problems with playability. Image
