I saw them yesterday and went back today to find one sold and one on hold. I thought about getting one, but the price seemed a little much like always at POTR.

"but the price seemed a little much like always at POTR."

But for them to both sell in a day...were they really priced too high?

I paid about $30 more for my Fireglo Laredo from POTR than I would have from Music123...with a good setup and insurance on the shipping.

Didn't seem all that expensive.

The necks seems really wide on these ones... it`s a drawback for me as far as I am concerned. I really wanted one but I gave up.

Point taken jeff, I guess it is the old supply and demand rule kicking in. I wouldnt say it is a bad price, just a little more than you would expect from other dealers. I've heard nothing but great things about POTR though, so I'm sure it is worth it to pay a little bit more for a lot of people.

The trans red one was actually sold (or at least ordered) by me on 10/21/03. Since I had gotten one that Chris at POTR ordered for store stock, he wasn't sure if I still wanted the trans red one,of course I want it.
He sent me pictures of it, here's one:

Notice any difference other than the color to my mapleglo?

This must be the first change to the 5Cii. Maybe they will go through changes like the 4001 did.
So I guess I'll have an Original and Revision 1.

I believe that change was made for easier access to the truss rods at the heel end of the neck, since some of the early Cii basses had openings too small to get the rods out of. By taking the neck pickup out you have unlimited access to them.

Hey guys, I got the tranny blue!
I hope the pic shows here:

I think the color is very close to the blueburst (without the burst of course!). I did notice the different placement of the pick ups though, why would Ric change this?

check out Mr Ed's site - he has a trans blue Cii 4 that he calls trans purple and the pup is up against the neck.

Jps, good call about the reason for the change of neck pickup placement. It won't bother me, but I think most players that do alot of slap style playing will not like that new pickup placement. I don't do much of that, so I won't mind...but then Rick basses never seemed to be all that popular with R&B/funk players anyway.
The bridge pickup is also moved closer to the neck, I think the new bridge pickup placement will be a more comfortable thumb anchor spot for fingerstyle playing. More of a P bass pickup position than the J bass pickup position of the first 5Cii's.

Alberto, welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of that bass, unfortunately your pic is not showing. You'll have to post some pics when you receive it.
