I remember seeing them in concert in the early eighty's, slowride [bass line] was awesome live whoever was playing he was clean and fast.It was foghat, blueoystercult and shooting star in concert, foghat blew me away i was surprised at how good they sounded i was amazed by there bassist.[he had long straight blond hair and had funny style of playing or stance]

I saw them back in 74 or 75 with Black Oak Arkansas. One of the loudest shows I think I've ever been to. From their first album, "I just want to make love to you" has some really nice bass lines. Tony Stevens was playing bass back then.
Sorry, the thread has taken a turn to the Foghat thread.

Damn! I saw that same bill up in Springfield, Mass. I went to see BOA and did not even know who Foghat was!!! What a great show...

Don't think I'll go the Cheyenne route, and the V63 route has occurred to me, but my latest thoughts have been drifting toward a brand spanking new 4001c64, if I could just get used to the backwards headstock (Ronn seems to manage). The recent prices on used CSs and V63s are starting to make the C64's look like a bargain! Anybody care to comment who has had a chance to compare the CS, V63, and C64 hands on?
In the meantime, I better get back to practicing, with all these accolades for Foghat. The show is part of a 4-day festival/rally that will also include Lynryd Skynyrd and .38 Special. While I will likely be the worst bass player on stage, I might also be the youngest--not a situation I am accustomed to!

I have my choice of headstock direction
I played a 4001C64S for the first time yesterday. A righty unfortunately. The neck was very nice, loved it. Thin from top to back. Sounded like my CS. It's at Bass Emporium FYI.

Interesting, although I am a Fireglo kind of guy and that isn't an option with the C64s. Did he have a FG C64, by any chance? The web site indicates that he has one "on order", but it says the same thing about the C64s.

I believe the "s" on the C64 series indicates "sanded" and depicts McCartney's Rick bass after it had the psychadelic paintjob sanded off (along with some wood). So the C series basses are:
C64 -- Fireglo, reverse headstock, vintage pickups, etc. Also available in MG and a few JG were made.
C64s -- as far as I know, only MG

He did have a FG C64 but sold it a couple weeks ago, it was beautiful. The website is current now I think.
