4001CS depression

Post by rickengeezer »

As someone who has a serious itch for a 4001CS, it is so depressing to see one bounce from one dealer:

to another:

without the benefit of a loving home, of the type that I would, of course, provide. On the other hand, in some instances perhaps it is better that they remain on the wall in the store:

I know how you feel mate.
It's the one model of bass I truly want, and three grand (Ricsrus) is the sort of price I could never afford. Image

No, Ronn, I can't hate you, since you tipped me off for my 4003s/8! Besides, I can't use that one anyway, it points the wrong direction.

By the way, Ronn, we're opening for Foghat next week at a 4-day festival on the shores of lovely Lake Somerville if you want to come hear my Ricks in action.

What if I told you I paid $999 for it? "Can you hate me now?" Image Sorry.
Didn't one of the guys in Foghat die recently? What am I saying, we're opening for Badfinger, and I think they're ALL dead!

After a bit of anguish (see the "Blackstar vs 4001CS" thread below), the CS is getting photographed by the pro down the hall so I can offer it out. I figure on posting it here first, if that makes sense. Yes/no?

Derek, that's sad, but good luck and I hope someone here gets it.

obviously that guy from talkbass has no idea how special his bass is. its one thing to put that graffiti on a regular Rick, but on a CS?!

Talkbass irritates me sometimes.
"What name did you give your bass?",
"How soon after buying my first bass should I think about buying a second one?",
"Show me your purple basses",
"I just got my new 1000watt bass rig, I hope to get in a band someday".

Why not get a Cheyenne II?

In 45 years, they'll be the "Rm1999" of Ricks.

And RMs will be, er.... in vaults. Image

Just buy a 4001V63 and you will not miss or want a CS that might have cracks in its finish due to whatever reason...

I think Foghat had two bass players alternating over the years, sort of back and forth. Not sure the current one was the one playing on the classic 70's tunes, but by all reports he is very good and will make me look like the hack that I am. But my 4003s/5 will look damn good, and I'm even considering getting out the 4080/12 for that 70's essence, even though it would be largely pointless with two guitarists.

Rod Price was the guitar player who recently died; he was the guy who played all those cool slide parts on their best known songs. I don't think he had played with the band in its current form in some time.
