The last time I needed a latch for a Rick case the factory sent one to my local dealer, free of charge, even though it was not warranty. I didn't even pay for the phone call. It came in a week. New rivets and all.

Ken: Very glad you got the plush treatment. It is these little touches that make the difference even after the deal is closed.

I took a vintage reissue silver case with a broken latch to a local luggage repair shop and they were able to find a perfect match from their supplier. They installed it within a few days and I could not even tell it had been changed. Cost me $25 US.

Things seem to be a little different in the UK......I'm having no luck with vintage style catches.......the search goes on.

Odd, last time I was in the UK, there were all sorts of cases sporting these in both American and Chinese-made versions. Mostly makeup cases and overnight-type things.
Idea: hit a boot sale and look for old cases with good latches. This is a common pattern. Just widen your search a bit.

I hadn't thought of that....I was looking down the guitar supplier route. Good idea Paul..........boot sales beware!

I, too, need a couple of "Cheney" latches for one of my cases. If anyone sources these, please let me know. Good thought on the luggage store.

Cheney latches are available at just about any luggage repair shop. They have to be the most ubiquitous latch there is for various types of briefcases and the like.
If your guitar is under warranty and registered with us, we also have ways to get you latches for the case if you contact customer service.

Aha!! Thank you Graham and John. I've had absolutely no luck sourcing anything remotely like the correct latch over here and continue to break nails on my busted one. I'll give Jim a try.
