So Bob ... you think playing with a pick is retro and playing with fingers is more modern and you use your fingers ... I thought you were the guy who always wanted to do it old school ...
heheheheh ... just pulling your chain ... I couldn't resist ...
I still say learn all the methods for playing and then choose the one that fits your style ... or if you play in a cover band then use slaping, picking, and fingering as needed in any given song ...

I used a pick for the first two years of my playing. Then I got into Rush and it beacame obsolite. I use fingers 99.9% of the time, but sometime yo just need a good pick to play, like when you have horrible blisters that won't go away. That happened to me for three months. It was hell!

Geezer used a pick? I thought he just played like the old guys and used that one finger (all the others behind it) and smacked the string kinda. Cause when i learned some sabbath i just played how i saw him play. And it kinda just got thrown in with my playing now.
You should learn a little of everything tho. If you ask me its important finding a pick you like as well.

Haha! I've been using the same pick for 3 years. Dunlop USA 1.5 mm. Best I've used. Just about worn down to nothing. I've lost it a bunch of times but I always found it. I'll post a pic when I get home. I pick near the brige a la Roger Waters. Picks are nice but I'm just no good with one anymore.
