Hey Ray/Basser X,
I'm a long time member of this forum & certifiable bass geek. I also live in the Atlanta area (East Point to be exact).
We should get together for beers & basses sometime.

A bonafide Southeast confluence!!

Wow Chris, your name sure rings a bell. I also grew up in East Point and played in several bands back in the late 80's-early 90's. Machine Gun Kelly,Viper,Terrafyre,Odd Man Out,Crossfire-do any of these names ring a bell? Ahh,those were the days....

I was born in East Point but grew up a little further southside.
I was in Oblivion, Headquake, Fade To Winter, Mr. Flekno, Idiot Stick Rules (to name a few) & all of these were in that same , almost magical, late '80s early '90s time period.

Did we brush elbows at a bar back in the day? The original Cotton Club? The Point? Little Five Points Pub? Wreck Room? Metroplex? Masquerade? Avondale Towne Cinema?

Whew, too early & not enough coffee to dredge up all of those old rooms!

I played every room you named along with friends in other bands like Din,Damnage,Nihilist,Kinetic Dissent,Stuck Mojo,Lava Love, Swimming Pool Q's, etc.... Those certainly were the days of long hair, easy waitresses, and beer, beer, beer!! Give me call-I'm local-404-895-3459. I'll talk heavy metal and basses anytime.

Ray, not sure if you remember me, but we dealt with an early white Stingray with the BOO serial number. You were very helpful in helping me identify the parts. Not sure if you bought it or not.

Anybody remember the 688 club in Atlanta? My group opened for Wall of Voodoo there.

My band actually did good that night but, learned a show business lesson when we went up for an encore and the Wall of Voodoo people had them pull the plug on the board.

Chris, I missed your calls today-sorry but insanity calls on a regular basis. Literally a phone in each hand... Marc, I knew your name from somewhere, but on what bass I couldn't remember. I'm meeting all kinds of cool folks on this site-sure am glad I found ya'll. As well as being a Ricky guy, I have a severe weakness for pre-Ernie Ball Stingrays. I know this is probably not the place to discuss them, but I've got a few next to my 4001's, mostly in custom colors. If any of you guys ever see someone standing on the side of the road with about 30 bass cases stacked and a skinny dog, that'll be me, having bought one bass too many.....

I think we discuss just about any axe...in an ancilary type of way! Image

Old Stingrays are nice. Lots of folks have Fenders (myself included), a bunch of Gibson guys. We just all LOVE Ricks.

Any of you Atlanta boys ever go to Athens? What was the name of the club there?
