Didnt expect too. Im just saying. I want one in the future. It be a hard time finding one of those anyways. I wouldnt play any spector that wasnt neck thru. Pre Kramer would be the koolest tho.

I put hi beams on my warwick thumb. It gets a nice thumpy tone i guess you should say. And in the past year i have been buying them they have lasted a looooong time.

Yeah, I don't know why your DR's went dead so quickly Bob. I've had mine on my Ric and I play at least an hour a day, and really hard at that, and they just as good as when I put them on my bass in August! No other bass string that I've played has sounded this good for this long . . . the RS55's sounded amazing but went dead after a few weeks, as did the RS77's, and the standard Ric strings didn't sound right to me . . . oh, and GHS Boomers made it sound disgusting. I never had Chromes on the Ric, so I have no idea how that sounds, but they're really stiff. If I was going to use flats, I'd want something a lot more pliable. Like the DR Hi-Beams.

Actually, I'm wondering, what exactly are the main differences between DR Hi-Beams and Lo-Riders? I need a couple sets of backup strings for when the Hi-Beams finally die, and I want to know if there's any appreciable difference between the two strings, and if so, what is it?

I put a set of the super soft chromes on my fretless and they sound just great. Lots of fundamental note power and good cut through in the mix for a flat string. They also feel amazing, just like my first bass, a late 60's Shaftesbury Tele copy.

It would seem Hi-Beams are quite popular on all ric models, might be a good place to start my search?

I have also given the chromes a shot.....

I now have 2 4005's and a 4002 with D'addario XL super soft chromes on them. They are officially "my strings".....hands down best sound from flats that I've heard....and they are as smooth as silk....only more smooth

I don't know if you've tried the stuff or not... but I use Fast-Fret alot since my '77 has a sanded fretboard... but last night was the first time I tried it with the Chromes. My fingers felt like they were ice-skating... might have been the best bass-playing experience of my life!

Chris... what gauges are you using?
