Giving Chromes a shot...

Post by shinynewtoy »

So I just got them on, and I'm taking a smoke break before I plug in and decide whether or not I like how they sound. So far, I played unplugged for about 10 minutes and they feel amazing, I put on a 45-100 set and Rosa practically plays herself. Almost plays too good...

The true test will be tone... I'm a tone freak and I'm really picky about the way my bass sounds. If I like it I'll probably make these my string of choice because they just feel incredible.

Morew details coming.... stay tuned....

We have a winner.

The growl's still there, she certainly still sounds like a 4001 should, but she seems to have gained SO much presence. Bob likes...alot!

I guess the Jeff Rath army lost a soldier... nah. If the CFO of the house ever lets me get a 2nd Rick... hmm, how 'bout a FG V63 with rounds? Gotta have both, right!

Bob-
Ha! I just placed an order with juststrings.com for a set of the super soft Chromes, ala Jeff Scott...figuring if he loves the way they feel and sound on HIS 4005WB they should sound good on mine.....

I'll post in a couple of days with results...

Jeff recently gained a soldier in me I guess... Image Recently went back to RW's on my 4001 and liked it a lot.

I did restring my 4004 with RW's...but I have a set of flats to try on it (the Fender flats that were on the 4001). But that'll be a while, and it'll basically be just a test.

Welcome Barry! No offence, but didn't you die recently? Love your voice, had to be a bass player! Image

I put DR Hi Beams on my spector and HATED them. Didn't like the tension...sounded really harsh... went dead really quick...but then again it could just be my Spector...???!!!

I'm really liking the Chromes though... I've approached the string Zen!
