I never quite understood how a thumbrest in that position would help me - I play with my fingers, and my thumb rests on the other side of the strings - closer to the e string. My 78 Fender P bass came with a thumb rest in that position, which I find might useful.

The pictures of the v63's on this thread made me run and play mine... nice bass...

P.S. I bet you could get $40k for a v63 kidney without binding and a mono output... in Kidneyglo, of course

Yeah, I don't understand why the fingerrest is on that side of the strings either. Shouldn't it be on the other side so you can rest your thumb on it?

The finger rest was for the guys back in the sixty's who used there thumb or a pic.They give it that vintage look,back then they probably thought they looked futuristic being made out of clear plexi.
