The Beatles' versions of "You Really Got a Hold on Me" and "Please Mr. Postman" are better than the originals, at least to me. Great group singing on "Hold." In the States they were all on "The Beatles Second Album," which also contained "Long Tall Sally." No one does that song better than Macca.

Oops. I stand corrected on the release dates. Then it was between AHDN and Help, still a pretty tough sandwich to be between. I disagree on Leave my Kitten Alone. Lennon's vocal on it is awesome.

Have to agree with Glenn..."Leave My Kitten Alone" is a fine rock 'n roll cover by the Beatles. I never get tired of listening to that one...LOUD!

How has this thread gone two pages with only mention of one guitar?
For a long time, I thought that the last album John used his '58 325 was With The Beatles. So, I was searching through my books, and I stumbled upon this photo from a Beatles For Sale session:

The shirt, sunglasses, and harmonica holder are very Bob Dylan (circa 1965-1966). And so were some of John's songs (i.e. 'Help!', 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away', 'I'm A Loser', etc).

As a reformed hipster with a few polka-dot shirts still in his possession, absolutely. Loud music needs loud mod shirts. Well, his early 325 was at the session. Whether it made it onto the tape of course is another question for the ages.

You absolutely had to have a polka dot shirt, pegged (drainpipe) pants and Beatle boots if you wanted to be a musician back then. Paisley shirts were a close second.
