Hi Jason,

It was me. I'd be talking to Edgar about helping with the sale for the past two or three hours so, in this case, it is certainly not a case of "nice guys finish last".

I've been wanting to find a 4003 to buy to compare to my V63. I've owned them both in the past, but never at the same time.

Thanks, Ilan. It was a good deal.

A BIG thanks to Edgar for helping make this happen.

Thanks for the post, Steve. I had actually just seen it on E-bay too, but without your post it would not have even occurred to me that is was possible to buy the bass since I live a good 1200 miles from it.

I'll be sure to post a report when it arrives. I'll be A/Bing it with my Laredo that is loaded with Dark Star pickups as well as the V63. Should be interesting (and fun!)

Edgar picked it up for me today and was kind enough to shoot some nice shots. I'll shrink them to a size the forum will accept and post them as soon as I'm able. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a few days so it may be next week though. Ed gave it a very favorable review - I'm very pleased!

I think this one is in fact Ruby, John B.

And I do like Ruby as you can tell from this photo:

Congrats, Tim! Those mid-80's Ricks have nice necks. They feel like a 70's Rick but adjust like a new one.

Looks like Ruby to me. Here's some of the photos Ed shot. I'll post one with my other Rics when I get it here in California.ImageImageImage

The bass just needs some cleaning and adjustment(and an original RIC case) but off the bat, the bass sounds amazing and the finish and trim are gorgeous. My wife LOVES the finish on this baby.
Next stop, Santa Rosa, Cali. for some cool jazz sessions.
Congrats, Tim!

Yahoo! Bass arrived today and it is a real beauty. Fantastic player with just about the perfect Rick tone. Great neck too. Ed was immensely helpful in getting this. He truly went above and beyond - made a large deposit in the Karma bank on this one.

I like the tone even more than my V63 which, as a result, may very soon be offered for sale on this board. What is a fair market price these days for V63s anyway?

In the meantime here's a couple pics of my Rickenbacker triad:

It's good to see my old 4004 DS up there with those babies. That is a stunning collection of Ricks. Each one of them is so unique Tim. You should keep em all.

(I should talk, I off basses waaaay to fast sometimes)
