yes sir, I had tried a variety of string changes. The bridge seemed to "fix" it. Like I say, the Gent didn't seem to have the problem.
"our ears are used to hearing things slightly out of tune"
Good! That's the way I seem to play!

I left the rocking bar bridges on both my 6122-62 and 6119-62 and have not had any intonation problems.
I've also had a Gretsch 6120 since 1965, still has the original rocking bridge, and I've never ever had intonation problems.
Of course, I use flatwound .11s, maybe that has something to do with it.
Or maybe I'm just too dang old to hear the notes properly. I hate it when that happens...

Paul my Tenny came with de'addario elevens on it. I have not changed the strings to any light guages at all. I have heard too that some of these guitars were as much as two years old. Jack, Paul, and Jerry these guitars all seem to have their differences. Some intonate fine some don't. Mine doesn't.
But its still a cool guitar with a great acoustic sound. I think mine needs a Setzer style tunomatic and I want to put a B-7 on it too. This design was a good one for its day. But times have changed and the Bigsby thats on it now is a dinasour.

Oh by the way Paul. I think I might just get one of those nut kits from Stewmac after Christmas. The sudden purchase of the Tenny and another bass set me back a bit on my Guitar funds for this year LOL..
I would hate to ship the old Les Paul and since its vintage you have to be careful as to who works on them now.

My TR was an '04. I played it at first and it played and sounded great. Upon inspection at my first band practice with it, I felt a crack at the neck heel/body joint. MF were very cool about taking it back--even paid shipping both ways. My new one (another '04 I wonder?) is on its way right now.
I've bought an adjustable Gretsch roller bridge and will fit it and my weird new Bigsby handle to it when it arrives.

Vintage all the way, Dan...a 1964 Wheat Fender Showman 1-15". It has tone in spades.

Those are very cool amps. I have a Tone Master that while it gives off the same vibe is of course not the real thing. But I have gotten comments like "thats a nice Showman". Big Grin for me now.
