thanks guys...I am really enjoying her...I played it for close to 5 hours yesterday and I plan on doing the same today. I forgot to mention the finish is really awesome! it's very well done and it's really growing on me. The white on the bass is ever so slightly faded to cream...nice vintage vibe. It also has a toaster in the neck position and I really like it. I think the bass is going to need a truss rod adjustment when the bass is done adjusting to the climat...the action is getting a little high...I need a 1/4" nut driver for that right? hopefully I have one lying around somewhere.
Hey Jim, yeah I found the strings and strap thanks for giving them to me.
The tone is just totally killer...it has 95-40 gauge strings and it has loads more low end than my old bass which had 105-45 strings and it sustains forever. The neck was what surprised me the most...it's so playable and it doesn't get all fat when you get to the upper frets which was a big problem with my other bass. Man Rickenbackers are the best basses ever!!!

It may need to be adjusted after a couple of weeks, the humidity where I live is very low compared to where you are Matt.
Ilan .. I am at present down to Fireglo's only, the 75th while not exactly Fireglo is close enough, and given the fact that there are only 75 being made I can live with the slight variation in colour !!
Great to see you're happy with the bass!
The nut driver should be easy to find, just make sure the socket walls are thin. Thick ones need to be ground down to fit.

what type of amp are you looking for? i'm thinking of selling my Ashdown ABM400 head(pre 'Klystron' copyright issue). would be a good match with that Union Jack. e-mail me if interested.
Matt - congrats on your first (probably of many) Rick(s)! 4001UJ - and with a Sergio pup and a toaster - a tone monster! And Matt, it is ok to sleep with it the first week....
wow the more I play the UJ the more I LOVE IT!!! I am completely addicted. This past week has been nothing but Rush with the occasional Metallica and Iron Maiden thrown in. With the toaster and Sergio high gain I get a tone that's just awesome...somewhere between Chris Squire and Geddy Lee. This bass is just amazing. it just feels so right in my hands...the bass practically plays itself.
